Your Right to Know.
Your Power to Change.

The Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 is a tool for every citizen to demand accountability, expose corruption, and participate in our democracy.

Why the RTI Act is Powerful

Empower Citizens

Transforms you from a passive subject to an active participant. You have the right to inspect public works and records.

Promote Transparency

Mandates Proactive Disclosure. Departments must voluntarily publish data on budgets and functions to reduce secrecy.

Contain Corruption

A powerful deterrent. Public scrutiny helps identify malpractices and misuse of public funds by officials.

Strengthen Democracy

Ensures power resides with the people. An informed citizenry is essential for keeping a vigil on governance.

State Guide: Andhra Pradesh

How to File an RTI in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh State Government does not have a single, dedicated, centralized online portal. The most reliable method is the offline (physical) application.

1

Identify the Authority

Determine the specific department (e.g., Revenue, APPSC). Find the Public Information Officer (PIO) name/address on the department's website.

2

Draft the Application

Write a formal application on plain paper to the PIO. You can write in English or Telugu. Be precise about the documents you need.

3

Pay the Fee (₹10)

Use an Indian Postal Order (IPO) or Demand Draft (DD) payable to the "Accounts Officer" of the authority. Cash is accepted if submitting in person.

4

Submit & Secure Proof

Send via Registered Post (RPAD) or Speed Post. The tracking number is your legal proof of submission for future appeals.
