Under the Palle Panduga (Village Festival) drive, this program transforms waste management into a community incentive model. It was successfully piloted in Lal Puram, Guntur, and is now expanding statewide. New Indian Express: Swachh Ratham Waste-to-Wealth initiative
The Solid Waste Management Process
The Swachh Ratham tours the streets on a scheduled basis. Its arrival is announced via loudspeakers ("Swachh Ratha Sarathi"), alerting residents.
The operator collects dry waste. The waste is weighed on a digital scale for transparency. The value is calculated based on government prices.
No cash is exchanged. The resident chooses groceries (pulses, soaps, oil) from the "mobile shop" equal to the waste value.
